Handmade Gift Tags and Ornaments

I realize this is cutting it close, but here's a quick idea for gift tags. I use a variety of techniques on my gift tags. Everything from acrylic painting, fabric and watercolor pens. A bit of typography is a nice touch. All you need is your own creativity. Get the kids involved too! Who wouldn't love getting a handmade gift tag from their own special little toddler?

Fortunately, this idea can be used for any sort of gift. It's like giving two gifts in one! And, the best thing is, if you attach one to a Christmas gift, it can be used as an ornament. Don't be afraid to drag out the sewing machine. Adding sewn accents to paper is unique and simple. Below are just a few ideas.

ACEO Greeting Card

Here's another idea for showcasing those ACEO cards. Why not turn them into one of a kind greeting cards? The one below was pretty simple to create. I have a ton of greeting card blanks (I buy them at Hobby Lobby, but you can get them at almost any crafts store - do yourself a favor and grab them while they're on sale). I adhered patterned tissue paper using a glue stick, sewed a piece of frayed burlap and then sewed the card on top of that. The card is a mixture of watercolor, lace, decorative paper appliques and staples (just because I like the simplistic look). You can do this with any ACEO card. I try to keep some on hand for last minute gift-giving.
